An ebook – face your feelings.
This story is about who I used to be and thought I was. I teacher’s aide, assisting children to achieve by monitoring their mental health, health, and learning. But I have discovered that I am more than that, I am a guide with knowledge and the ability to provide learning support. When I became unemployed, for the third time, after yet another teacher-aiding contract ended, I did not have a clue how to carry on – and I became emotional and angry.
At this point, I was in limbo and did not know what to do about work and an income – something I wanted desperately. At the same time, I had already put out an SOS – a cleaning service, because this was something I knew and was able to offer and get success from.
While I was waiting for a response from my cleaning SOS, I went through some of the resources that I was allowed to keep, from the teacher-aiding work that I did, and realized that I could teach something that I had already taught. That was teaching children by talking to them, about their mind matters. I did this by addressing how they felt about school ( the face) and to seek a word starting with a letter of the alphabet (describing the meaning of the face) – because just like you and me, their mind matters.
Now not only do I have do I have a passion for the teaching profession, but a passion for psychology – how we all think, feel, and do. So given the fact that everything we all do, such as buying something, is about the mind (should I purchase, should I not, and not to mention FOMO – fear of missing out, it matters). All of this matters. The mind matters. I felt this 6 slide story presentation to be relevant to helping people take a look at how monitoring and managing their mental health is important so that learning is easier. Your mind matters.
